Chapter 198

A giant figure loomed before them, wildly waving a pure white paper while wearing black armor.

As he appeared, the soldiers’ faces began to harden under the weight of his imposing presence.

“W-What is that…?”

“D-Don’t back down! It’s just one of them! Plus, we’ve already gained the upper hand, so there’s no reason to be afraid!”

The commanders urged the soldiers to fight.

However, despite these efforts, they too felt it—the fact that the creature before them was dangerous.

The ‘monster’ had a power that might far surpass their own.

And then… while the soldiers trembled in fear, that giant began to move toward them.

It slowly extended its arm forward, a small gesture but one that radiated an overwhelming presence greater than that of thousands of soldiers ready for battle.

At the same time, the papers that had been fluttering as if caught in a whirlwind began to swirl without a breath of wind.

As if performing a dance with the papers, the giant warrior casually swung his arm at the soldiers before him.

Then…

-Whoosh!

-KABOOM!!!!

In the next moment, a massive explosion resonated, shaking the surroundings as dozens of soldiers were sent flying through the air.

“Ugh!”

“Gaaah!”

Letting out their cries, they soared helplessly into the sky, only to rain down back on their allies.

But this shocking scene didn’t end with just one round.

-Whoosh!

-KABOOM!!!!!

Every time the giant swung his arm, it felt like a wave sweeping across them as the soldiers were tossed away, screaming helplessly.

“Damn it! What… what the hell is that?!”

“Artillery! What are the artillery doing?! Stop that monster now!”

“Mages, do something about that creature!”

The soldiers urgently called for firepower support.

Those who received the call scrambled urgently to aim their cannons and magic at the beast.

Fortunately, most enemies had already withdrawn from other locations, allowing for some leeway in firepower support.

With conditions allowing them to concentrate their firepower in one place, they readied their barrage aimed at the warrior swinging the paper.

And then…

“Fire!”

-KABOOM!!

With a signal, the combined cannonballs and magic rained down.

They thought that with such tremendous firepower, no matter how formidable the monster was, it would surely fall.

After all, even General Tilly, a rank 9 mage, would be in danger from this level of attack, which made their assumption quite reasonable.

Dust and flames soared high, and the ground turned into a chaotic mess of freezing and burning. The soldiers couldn’t open their eyes due to the sudden windstorm.

This was the most powerful assault since the battle began, sweeping through that point; cautiously, the soldiers began to open their eyes, shining with a mix of hope and apprehension.

“D-Did we take it down?”

“Of course! There’s no way it survived that!”

With enemies retreating and advantages stacking up on their side, soldiers confidently believed that the warrior they saw moments ago was now nothing but dust.

But then…

“!”

“What… what is that?”

In the next moment, horror gripped the soldiers’ faces as they witnessed an unimaginable scene.

What they saw was… a bunch of papers clustered together, shielding the black warrior like a shield against the enormous cannon fire.

And behind them stood the warrior, unharmed by the magical onslaught due to the paper’s defense.

In a situation they couldn’t even fathom, a deep sense of dread began to overwhelm the soldiers.

“It’s a monster… the Northerners brought a monster…”

“It’s… dangerous… how can we possibly win against such a creature?”

Just moments ago, the soldiers were filled with confidence.

But now, they began to feel deeply unsettled.

Their spirits had plummeted.

Simultaneously, the awareness that advancing would surely mean death made them take fearful steps backward.

Meanwhile, the giant warrior extended his arm once more, causing the fluttering papers around him to take on an aggressive posture.

Just as chaos was about to erupt again…

“Stop! You evil heretic monster!”

With everyone engulfed in the fear of death, a man stepped forward, sword drawn, with a confident voice.

Dressed in conspicuous white armor unlike the others, a blue aura radiating a sense of divinity swirled around him.

It was obvious to everyone that he was a paladin.

Then, he called out to the giant warrior with confidence.

“I will not allow you to rampage any longer. I, Otto, will judge you here in the name of the Lord.”

With those words, Paladin Otto began to manifest a colossal creature made of aura.

The giant warrior, who had just been decimating their allies, seemed momentarily taken aback.

And soon, a gigantic lion formed from the aura appeared before Otto.

A translucent blue beast displaying majestic grace, it bared its mane as if it were a living creature.

Then, it took a charging stance toward the giant warrior.

“Go!”

“Grrraaaaah!!”

With a thunderous roar, the lion lunged at the warrior.

The giant warrior tried to use the paper to defend against the lion’s fierce assault.

However…

“!”

“Oh!”

In that moment, soldiers gasped in awe, witnessing the paper that had withstood the shocking artillery easily pierced by the lion’s single charge.

The lion then barreled into the giant warrior, its front paws swinging furiously.

For the first time, the giant showed clear bewilderment, being pushed back.

-“Graaaah!!!”

With each swing of the aura-formed lion’s paw, the warrior’s armor buckled.

The formidable presence it once held vanished, and the giant warrior could only focus on defense.

Though he attempted to retaliate by maneuvering the papers, they crumpled helplessly against the lion’s body, utterly powerless.

“Good!”

“We can win!”

They were witnessing a creature they once thought impossible to defeat beginning to falter.

The soldiers swiftly regained their morale, and a slight smile formed on Paladin Otto’s face.

“The tide is turning back in our favor. As Lord Valenshtein said, this should end any further variables!”

Just then, Otto began envisioning claiming the giant warrior’s head.

At that moment…

“Tch… I can’t let this happen.”

The giant warrior’s deep, unwavering voice echoed.

Then, with an unexpected show of strength, he swung his powerful arm, striking the aura lion.

“Tch!”

Otto felt slightly alarmed by the counterattack he hadn’t anticipated.

But immediately after, the black warrior addressed Otto with a chilling voice.

“I shall retreat for today. Farewell, human.”

With those words, the papers launched up, and Otto desperately tried to halt the warrior’s movement, but before he could act, the figure of the giant had completely vanished.

In the unforeseen scenario…

Moments later…

Cheers erupted from the soldiers as they began to comprehend their situation.

“We… we won!”

“We did it!”

“It’s a victory for the Sacred Empire!!!”
