Chapter 118

The development direction for “Galaxy Craft” has been decided.

All aspects specialized in war simulation will focus on [Real Mode], while all game-related elements will concentrate on [Game Mode].

Of course, this will increase the workload, but based on my experience, this is the most certain solution.

In my previous life, I saw many high-ranking officials from various companies trying to forcibly mix elements that simply couldn’t be mixed.

Like trying to combine an otaku game with an MMORPG.

I understand the intention.

If the impact and loyalty of an otaku game met the profitability of an MMORPG, it could result in the dream game.

If they are properly mixed, that is.

Countless game companies have attempted such challenges, and while some succeeded and created new fun, most failed and earned nicknames like “Dog Meat Tanghulu” and became legends for all the wrong reasons.

To avoid such mistakes, one must view it coldly and accept whether things can be mixed or not.

And in my view, “war” and “war games” cannot be mixed.

Implementing realistic elements of war would make it difficult to feel the enjoyment of a game like “Bellunus,” and if we focused on it as a war game, the accuracy in simulating war would drop significantly.

Therefore, the best method would be to separate the two and create both.

Though in the past, it would have been challenging for me and the Irene School to handle such a workload.

But with my current self, our Irene School, and “Doooon,” it’s not impossible.

Alright, let’s show off our development power using the “SHOW ME THE MONEY” cheat code.

*

Development has started with Team A implementing realistic warfare and Team B creating a war simulation game in the style of Galaxy Craft.

While they were first working on the world view and concept art, Lauren came to report that she had sketched designs for the alien race “Proto.”

“Yuren oppa, I designed the race “Proto” we talked about, what do you think?”

“Oh! Let’s take a look!”

Speaking of “Proto,” they are the first aliens chosen for evolution by “Zelda,” the divine race of [Galaxy Craft].

A race that has no mouths and can share thoughts and emotions through a mental network called ‘Kalan,’ connected by neural cords at the back of their heads, boasting technology and psionic powers that far surpass humanity, where each unit is powerful despite being costly.

I initially gave Lauren the keywords “Alien,” “No Mouth,” “Reverse Jointed,” and “Superior Technology,” asking her to design based on those.

What Lauren brought back was…

An alien clad in futuristic mechanical armor like Iron Man and equipped with a future weapon, a minigun like the ‘BG9000’ from Dune.

No, this is just a Terra Marine!

I cautiously said to Lauren.

“Hmmm… Lauren, doesn’t this look too ‘human’?”

“What!? You think this looks like a ‘human’?!”

“No, with mechanical armor and holding a gun, it looks too human—wouldn’t it be better to use more ‘magic’ and wear clothing like ‘ancient civilizations’?”

“Um… Oppa, I think that would make it look even more human or elf-like.”

“Uh…?”

“Master, look over here. If we design based on what Yuren oppa said, it will only be an alien on the outside, but it will still look human.”

Lauren pointed to Master, who was moving things with Karen.

“Karen, should I move the items here?”

“Yes, Master, just move them here.”

Seeing her levitating objects with magic while wearing clothing from an ancient elven civilization, I surely saw the semblance of “Proto.”

“Speaking of which, if we change the psionic energy to mana and the psionic storm to ‘Jeda’ (lightning magic), wouldn’t it be the same?”

“……………That’s right!!!!????”

I was shocked by Lauren’s words.

Thinking it over, she was right.

In the world of my previous life, mechanical civilization made it natural for humans to use machines, but here, the reverse was true.

In a world of magical civilization, machinery could be seen as an advanced alien technology.

“If it weren’t for you, Lauren, I would have been in big trouble.”

“Ahem!!! Right!! My words are correct!!!”

Like Master, Lauren puffed out her chest in pride.

I said to Lauren, who had become a bit smug.

“Speaking of which, let’s reorganize the unit settings today.”

“What!? What does that mean, Yuren oppa?”

“Come on, I have the setting documents in my lab, so let me show you, and let’s sort it all out at once.”

“Excuse me? Excuse me!?”

I dragged Lauren toward my lab.

As Laura was being pulled away, Jiren and Julia looked on with avant-garde gazes.

To cut to the chase, civilization has been swapped.

Originally in Galaxy Craft, humans with mechanical civilization switched to magical civilization, while the Proto with magical civilization transformed into mechanical civilization.

In other words, in the other world of Galaxy Craft, humans wield psionic storms, while aliens blow Zerglings’ heads off with siege tanks.

Even while I was creating, I wondered repeatedly, “Is this right?” but when seen through the eyes of the priests from this other world, it was undoubtedly an alien civilization with transcendent technological advancement.

It was one more moment to feel that this world truly is an other world.

What about the “Zergs,” you ask?

“They look like demons.”

“They definitely look like demons.”

“As if monsters created by demons formed a civilization, that would be the vibe.”

Karen and Master Sora said upon seeing the concept art for “Zergs.”

In a world where slimes are wandering around the neighborhood, it seems entirely possible to let space-faring monsters exist too.

With the core race concepts solidified, development proceeded swiftly.

The [Real Mode Team] began unitizing the armies of the current [Zers Empire, Ra Kingdom, and Yura Republic], while the [Game Mode Team] started creating units for humans (Terra), aliens (Proto), and alien creatures (Zergs).

Having previously experienced developing simulation games while creating Sim City, the progress turned out smoother than expected.

Indeed, this was the game development team I established.

Of course, there were issues.

Especially in story progression, the crew couldn’t keep up with the spicy storytelling style akin to Snow Entertainment.

“So, in this campaign, the guy, ‘Arcturus Mengsk,’ leads a fleet and saves us, right?”

“That’s right.”

“And then, to achieve his own goals, he commits mass murder and stabs us in the back, ditching ‘Kenigan’ and fleeing.”

“That’s right.”

In the story, ‘Arcturus Mengsk’ appears as a kind-hearted comrade at first.

But for his own goals, he uses devices that summon Zergs on many planets leading to mass slaughter, throws the protagonist under the bus, and abandons Kenigan, escaping with the summoning device.

Listening to my explanation, Sora had a frightened expression.

“This guy is a real piece of work.”

Every time I witness Sora’s scary expression, I’m taken aback.

It seems the cat within Sora does not forgive a jerk.

While observing this, Barren’s eyes sparkled as he eagerly asked.

“Yuren hyung! What happens to Kenigan after this?”

“Hmm… Kenigan gets caught by the Zergs and is infected, resulting in a demon transformation.”

“No way…”

Barren seemed genuinely sad, perhaps empathizing with Kenigan.

I continued with the story.

“However, ‘Tessada’ of the Proto self-destructs alongside the ‘Hive Mind’ that turned Kenigan into a demon, freeing him.”

“Wow! Thank goodness! So does Kenigan return to the protagonist ‘Reinan’?”

“He’s not human anymore but returns as a Zerg and allies with the protagonist as the ‘Human Alliance’ invades.”

“Ugh! Even though he was tainted, he still keeps the human heart to unite against a common enemy. And then what?”

Barren’s eyes sparkled even more as he focused on the story of Galaxy Craft.

Perhaps he was envisioning a story overflowing with dreams and hope where different races unite to reclaim a bright future.

Heh, expecting something like that from Snow Entertainment, Barren must still be a bit naive.

“The second he defeats the ‘Human Alliance,’ he betrays ‘Reinan’ and kills ‘Phoenix,’ his Proto friend.”

“No way! Seriously!?”

“Yeah, seriously, right from behind with a single blow!”

The moment he defeats the ‘Human Alliance,’ Kenigan betrays ‘Reinan’ and kills Phoenix, who was a friend of the Proto.

Later, it’s revealed in the sequel that Kenigan was under the control of the voice of darkness at that time, but the betrayal before that was shocking in many ways and left people in shock.

“This is messed up.”

With dead eyes, Barren stared at the storyboard.

Jiren, who was watching beside him, added a comment.

“Seriously, it’s a lot of betrayal and transformations into demons, don’t you think?”

During that time, Snow Entertainment’s stories were like this.

Betrayal and corruption were standard features, and the game became about figuring out who would betray and fall.

Perhaps they enjoyed such betrayal and corruption stories?

Did the developers at Snow Entertainment also succumb to corruption, betraying the player’s expectations and committing crimes, almost causing the company’s collapse?

Thinking back, it still infuriates me.

McCree, you jerk.

Anyway, despite several issues, as always, we managed to find answers and solve problems, and thus, the first alpha type was completed.

Now, it was time for a joyful testing session.
