Chapter 15

Chapter 015 Discovering a Hunk

So that’s why Xia Xinyan said this guy was a lunatic.

And not just any lunatic; she’s a cunning one.

In her past life, many people were fooled by her ridiculous appearance, only to end up oblivious to how they got conned.

At least now… this guy should be less unscrupulous than in her previous life; after all, she was still playing the game normally, and when it’s not about life and death, there’s no need to be too rigid.

But even so, you can already see hints of her cunning nature.

Like that last line she said; just thinking about it reveals her intention—right now, she really has nothing on her, and most importantly, no weapon to defend herself. Once they hit the second day, dungeons get tougher, and if she still doesn’t have a weapon by then, the odds of clearing this dungeon would be slim to none.

So, if there’s a chance, it’s best to buddy up and snag some weapons; at least it would give her some means of self-defense.

Plus, if Xia Xinyan and Ling Mo were merely in a temporary partnership, then Murong Yue’s earlier remark about “who’s the boss” might just spark a dispute between her and Ling Mo. If she’s shallow-minded enough, she could end up getting caught in it, and perhaps Murong Yue could fish a little in troubled waters.

Of course… it’s also possible she just said it casually.

But after dealing with all sorts of calculations and deceit later in the game, even now, Xia Xinyan still has a tendency to think conspiracy theories by instinct.

So she didn’t plan on keeping Murong Yue around.

“We don’t want a dead weight.” She slowly crouched in front of Murong Yue and said softly, “I can give you two guns and some ammo as help, but this help is not free—if you clear this dungeon, I want half of your basic game points as payment once we’re out.”

Murong Yue nodded without a second thought: “Sure! No problem!”

“Then let’s add each other as friends.” Xia Xinyan sent her a friend request and then pulled out two guns and a few magazines from her bag, “You should know how to use these without me teaching you, right?”

“No need, no need, I know how to use a gun.” Murong Yue chuckled and put away the guns as if afraid she’d backtrack, “A good person lives long, so I’m good to go now, right? I’m heading off?”

“Go ahead.”

Murong Yue turned and bolted away at lightning speed.

Xia Xinyan stood up and watched her back for a bit, her expression somewhat perplexed.

She really hadn’t expected to encounter this person in the first dungeon.

Though she’s a lunatic, if they could get on well, Murong Yue could actually be a decent ally; a bit of early investment wouldn’t hurt.

Just not right now.

Right now, Murong Yue was still just a newbie getting into the Realm of Divine Presence, probably not even fully grasping the game rules yet. Having her around would likely be more of a burden; dealing with one Ling Mo was already a bit of a hassle, adding a second one would truly be pushing beyond her limits, and this wasn’t an orphanage.

Moreover, she knew the butterfly effect; if she recklessly interfered with Murong Yue’s progress, it might lead her down a completely different path. Especially since this first dungeon is extremely crucial for all players—whether or not they gain abilities isn’t as important as whether they actually enjoy the game, which is largely determined by this first dungeon.

The first dungeon could be said to be the weakest dungeon for all players; with no experience or power boosts, if you die in this dungeon and experience a 70% pain of death again, you’d probably end up hating this game. At that point, even if their abilities are strong, if they aren’t activated, it’s useless.

Xia Xinyan could at most help Murong Yue in this first dungeon; as for what comes next, she wouldn’t be able to manage it.

Right now, the focus is still on getting herself and Ling Mo to activate their abilities, or rather… getting Ling Mo to actually like this game.

Once that’s settled, she’d have the bandwidth to think about other things.

As she saw Murong Yue off, Ling Mo looked a bit confused: “Why not let her partner with us?”

Xia Xinyan shot him a side glance, her tone carrying a hint of resentment: “You… want to take on other girls?”

She looked just like a pitiful girl abandoned by a man after a night’s fling.

—In some aspects, that analogy wasn’t far off since Ling Mo had spent the whole night holding her close and taking advantage of her.

Immediately, Ling Mo felt guilty: “No… I mean… okay, actually I didn’t want her joining us…”

Xia Xinyan returned to smiling: “Alright, just joking. It’s getting late; I’ll go prepare breakfast.”

This guy… is just too easy to tease.

While she silently criticized Ling Mo in her heart, he, on the other hand, felt deeply moved by her actions.

Preparing breakfast…

So thoughtful…

This was the first time in his life he experienced waking up to a girl making breakfast for him.

This is… paradise…

Breakfast consisted of leftover wild boar meat from last night, which Xia Xinyan had smoked for today’s meal. The taste couldn’t be that great, but as long as it filled them up, it was fine. The dungeon would end today, and once they exited, all negative effects would disappear, so some minor discomfort wouldn’t matter much.

After hastily finishing breakfast, it was just about dawn outside; the sun hadn’t risen yet, and the forest was still somewhat dim.

The game mentioned that the dungeon was a day-long wilderness survival reality show, so the plot should wrap up around 1 PM today. According to standard patterns, the most difficult phase would occur before the dungeon ends, so preparations for the final showdown needed to begin now.

What Xia Xinyan planned to do was hunt down the Protection Association at the resource point.

Of course, it would be best if Ling Mo would take action, since the system’s designated target was him.

Upon hearing she was going to hunt, Ling Mo couldn’t help but get excited—

Now we’re talking, this is the main event!

Jungle gun battles; this was even more thrilling than real-life CS, even outdoing his nostalgic memories of last night.

Until Xia Xinyan suddenly turned around, pushed him down hard, and leaned over him.

“!!!”

Staring at Xia Xinyan suddenly pressing down on him, Ling Mo was completely dumbfounded.

Huh… Am I being pinned down?!

What’s she planning to do?!

Is she… trying something… daring?!

“Who are you people?!” A sudden female voice interrupted Ling Mo’s delusions.

He instinctively turned his head, only to see several women in pink outfits emerging from the bushes, armed with submachine guns and rifles, with “Fresh Meat” emblazoned across their chests.

At the bottom was a heart.

The vibe was overwhelming, but their danger level was no joke. Ling Mo wasn’t a fool; he quickly realized—they had been found.

Then, Xia Xinyan suddenly sat on Ling Mo’s waist, directly choking him: “I’ve found a hunk! I’ve subdued him! Sisters, quick, go find more people!”

Ling Mo: “……”
