Chapter 206

Chapter 206 It’s Really Unpleasant

Although Monica didn’t say much to Ling Mo, he could pretty much guess some things now.

This dungeon… or rather this world, might actually be a real existing world.

This girl should not be a game admin, but rather a higher being, here to deal with some issues, though her motives should be different from theirs.

Speaking of which, if she resolves the troubles of this world, would their mission be completed directly?

Ling Mo was a bit curious about this.

But Monica didn’t plan to chat with him any longer: “I don’t have much else to tell you. Can you collect all these bombs on the ground now?”

Ling Mo paused, waved his hand, and all the bombs on the ground transformed into white lines and disappeared. He stared at Monica for a moment and curiously asked, “Is your purpose for coming here the same as ours?”

“Not quite,” Monica narrowed her eyes slightly, “but similar. Right now, you’re helping me out—though I’ve helped you quite a bit too, but it seems you haven’t noticed that yet.”

Ling Mo didn’t say anything.

Monica met his gaze for a moment, shrugged, “Any other questions?”

“None.” Ling Mo shook his head, “Do you want to join us?”

“No need for that. You guys go have your fun; don’t worry about me.” Monica waved her hand and turned to leave.

Ling Mo didn’t chase after her.

He could tell that this girl just didn’t want to cause trouble here; letting her back down once was already her biggest concession.

However, he still had many questions left unasked.

She said she would come looking for them after leaving the dungeon.

Was that… serious?

After thinking for a moment, Ling Mo temporarily set aside his thoughts and turned to leave.

The fat guy and the others were already done with their fight; the place was a mess, covered in all sorts of robot wreckage.

Seeing Ling Mo return, the fat guy immediately chased after him: “Where did you go just now? I thought you blew yourself up when you suddenly disappeared during the fight.”

“I found some things,” Ling Mo didn’t elaborate but directly looked at Gao Tian, “Let’s keep moving.”

Monica said she had helped them a lot, and he guessed it was probably those points of suspicion they observed in the city. However, this information still couldn’t yield any useful intel… or rather, couldn’t lead to any confirmed information.

So rather than continuing to speculate, it was better to follow what Monica said and go all out. They would smash through here; he didn’t believe they wouldn’t expose something.

Most importantly, he needed to find Xinyan quickly.

He always had the feeling that what was coming next wouldn’t be easy.

On the other side, Xia Xinyan and the others had pushed into the core area at the top. Ahead of them was a barricaded door, leaving no way forward.

“Is this the end?” Xia Jincang stepped up to touch the black barrier blocking their path, then tried to burn it with the highest temperature flame he could manage for a few seconds, realizing it caused no damage, he withdrew, “This should be the meeting point Gao Tian mentioned. Let’s wait here; they should be coming soon.”

No sooner had he finished speaking when Ling Mo and the others came out from another path. Seeing the three on this side, they immediately approached them.

Ling Mo leaned in with concern toward Xia Xinyan: “Xinyan, are you okay? Did you get hurt on the way?”

Before Xia Xinyan could respond, Xia Jincang ungraciously squeezed between them: “She has me protecting her, so of course, she wouldn’t get hurt. And hey, you’re too close.”

Ling Mo stepped back a couple of paces, cleared his throat, “As long as you’re fine.”

Xia Xinyan: “…”

She increasingly felt that these two were a bit strange.

Fortunately, Gao Tian timely raised his voice to draw everyone’s attention: “This is the core area! They must be hiding behind this! We just need to devise a way to blast a path, and then the other teams can come in to charge with us!”

Ling Mo paused, then immediately materialized a bundle of timed explosives and stuck them on the barricade: “Then let’s stop the chit-chat and let them get ready.”

Gao Tian nodded: “We’ve already notified all teams; they’re on their way here. All other areas have been suppressed; this is the final battle.”

“Finally going to wrap this up?” Tian Yi breathed a sigh of relief, “Feels like this dungeon is just like ‘if you’re a man, go down a hundred levels.'”

As they spoke, they retreated to a sufficient distance. Ling Mo even materialized a huge shield in front of everyone for safety, then detonated the explosives.

A massive explosion instantaneously demolished that barricade, even causing the entire spire to tremble slightly. After the barricade was destroyed, the entire spire was finally filled with a deafening alarm sound—

“Alert! Alert! The core area of the Control Hub has been breached. All personnel, prepare for combat! All personnel, prepare for combat!”

Meanwhile, Gao Tian also brandished his rifle and charged toward that direction: “Rush! For the sake of saving this city!!”

The fat guy was rather confused: “Are you saying he’s brave or just stupid?”

But before anyone could answer, a bunch of young folks armed with weapons suddenly charged from behind, all shouting “Save the city!” as they rushed toward the core area—this should be the reinforcements Gao Tian mentioned from other teams.

Xia Xinyan and the others saw quite a few oddly dressed or even non-human characters mixed in with the other teams; these were probably players from other squads. But now that the dungeon seemed to be entering its final stage, they mostly just wanted to grab more contribution rewards, and no one even paused for a moment to look at them.

“Whoa, look at this momentum,” Tian Yi was caught up in the mood of the scene, “It’s heating up! Brothers! Are we not going to join in?!”

“Let’s go!” The fat guy didn’t care about the situation, “Let’s wade in and see what fish we can catch!”

Seeing them all rush in, Xia Xinyan came over to Ling Mo’s side: “Let’s go in and take a look; be careful.”

Ling Mo nodded, just as he was about to move with her, Xia Jincang squeezed over again: “Xinyan, just follow behind me. I’ll keep you safe.”

Xia Xinyan twitched the corner of her mouth: “No need, I’m good with Mo Mo.”

Ling Mo immediately laughed: “Yeah, don’t worry, Jincang, I’ll protect Xinyan.”

Xia Jincang: “…”

It’s really unpleasant.

Unfortunately, Xia Xinyan and Ling Mo didn’t pay attention to his feelings and directly entered the core area.

The core area was a vast dome, the light quite dim, but above the dome, many holographic projections displayed various data, which roughly could be seen as citizen information, etc. Surrounding them were countless large servers, also obstructing the view. After so many people entered inside, apart from hearing the sounds of battle, they basically couldn’t see a few faces.

However, they saw Gao Tian rush out: “Ah ah ah! It’s battle robots! They’re really powerful, so be careful!”

Xia Xinyan: “…”
