Chapter 442
Chapter 442 Plan
A woman approached.
As soon as she entered the room, she curiously asked, “I heard you captured an outsider outside the city-state?”
Ling Mo and Xia Xinyan turned to her and nodded, “Yes, that’s him.”
The woman stared at the two of them for a moment, “What’s with your faces and voices?”
“That’s our ability,” Ling Mo replied casually.
The woman believed him, “Not bad, can you give me one too?”
Ling Mo sized her up for a moment, considered for two seconds, and shook his head, “It can only work on ourselves.”
He knew just how ridiculous this mask was; if this woman really fell for it, it would be a disaster—though her taste was quite strong.
This is probably true racial difference.
The woman believed him again, “What a pity.”
Then she turned to the man, “Is this the outsider?”
The man seemed to want to say something, but then remembered Ling Mo’s warning and kept his mouth shut.
Ling Mo timely added, “He’s a mute.”
The woman paused, “A mute? But I heard he spoke outside the city-state?”
Ling Mo promptly walked over and grabbed the man’s horn, “It’s not him talking, it’s this thing talking.”
As he said this, he pressed the play button—
“Collect! Hair! Shorten! Long hair! Switch pots! Switch scissors! Switch kitchen knives!”
Then Ling Mo turned it off.
The woman suddenly found interest in this gadget, “What is this? Why can it make sounds?”
“This is a horn,” Ling Mo explained, “Just like that box you’re looking at, it has some magical functions.”
“I see… I want this thing.” The woman pointed at the horn.
Ling Mo immediately handed it to her.
The woman played with it for a moment and then looked at the man, “What is this outsider here for?”
“Don’t know,” Ling Mo shook his head, “But we think this guy is very interesting; can you give him to us?”
“I’ll reward you,” the woman said generously, “I’ve heard you’ve done well guarding the city-state and have successfully commanded those useless ones. This is your reward.”
After saying that, she took the horn and left, “I’ll go manage my city-state; remember to check on it after you’re done playing with this outsider.”
It seemed she lost interest upon hearing that the man was mute.
A mute meant no communication; she wouldn’t know how to play charades.
I have to say, these demons are really easy to fool.
Once she left, Ling Mo looked at the completely confused man, “Do you know why I did that?”
The man paused for a moment and quickly shook his head.
“Because we’re going to seize that woman’s city-state,” Ling Mo said directly, “You’re very clever, so we decided to collaborate. If you can help us defeat that woman, then the entire city and even the other demon strongholds outside will be your solid backing.”
The man didn’t understand the various loopholes in Ling Mo’s words; he only heard the latter half—an entire demon race would be the solid backing of their Eden!
If they could really do this, how could they lose?!
This made the man feel quite invigorated, “I’m willing to help you defeat that woman! What do you need me to do?”
“Like this,” Ling Mo produced a similar mask for him and pulled out a pendant containing demon meat, “This thing will make all the demons outside listen to you; this is our trust in you—so once you go out, just order any demons you dislike to fight each other, or command them to kill other demons. The more chaos in the city, the better. Or tell them that if they don’t want to do this, they should overthrow that woman’s power. Got it?”
The man paused for a moment and then immediately understood—this was about internal sabotage; he excelled at this!
And he could command those demons… just the thought excited him!
Even the leader had never experienced this feeling; he would be the first to feel it! This was something he could brag about for a lifetime!
So he immediately accepted Ling Mo’s items and nodded, “I’ll do it perfectly.”
“I believe in you,” Ling Mo nodded and then said, “But to prevent you from running away, we need to take some of your belongings as a guarantee—just that watch.”
He pointed at the man’s spatial watch.
The man was taken aback, “No… can I change it to something else?”
“Just this one.” Ling Mo’s tone grew serious again.
The man hesitated for a moment.
The spatial watch contained devices to communicate with Eden; if he gave it to these two demons, he wouldn’t be able to report what was happening in Eden. But… if he didn’t give it, this demon might suspect he was unwilling and kill him. The downside of collaborating with a tiger is the uncertainty of when it might get angry. No matter what, it’s better to go along with this tiger’s wishes for now.
So the man detached the spatial watch and handed it to Ling Mo, then donned the mask and pendant, leaving under the watchful eyes of Ling Mo and Xia Xinyan.
After that, Ling Mo took off the mask and looked at Xia Xinyan, smiling, “How did I perform?”
Xia Xinyan also removed her mask, her expression somewhat strange, “I just realized you have a talent for acting.”
“Flattery, flattery,” Ling Mo seemed in a good mood, “Xinyan, didn’t you want to verify if these demons can coexist peacefully? We could target that woman; if we can successfully orchestrate a rebellion and then help her quell it or escape with her, we might just be able to form an alliance with her. At that point, we can gradually guide her to interact with humans… If even this experience can’t make her accept humans, then it might prove these demons are just bloodthirsty monsters at heart.”
Xia Xinyan locked eyes with him for a moment, then suddenly smiled, “Mo Mo is really amazing…”
She used to think Ling Mo couldn’t grow to the level of her past life in such situations… including cunning and schemes, but now it seemed that Ling Mo might have surpassed her long ago…
After all, he is the real Ling Mo…
Just felt strangely marvelous.
Ling Mo came over and hugged her, teasing, “Actually, it was that guy who annoyed me that sparked this idea—I really can’t understand how those rumors ended up making that guy think I established the Eagles Alliance after… you know… kicking you out.”
Probably… it’s because Xinyan had always been intentionally letting him take the lead, which somewhat diminished Xinyan’s presence, making people think the Eagles Alliance was all his doing…
He felt Xinyan was wronged.
