Chapter 466

Chapter 466 On-the-Spot Insurrection

The people around were shocked by the scene, but more so, they were envious—envious of Ling Mo’s strength and envious of those suited up in battle armor.

After all, their interactions with Ling Mo were nowhere near as deep as Xia Xinyan’s; they didn’t feel the surge in Ling Mo’s strength as prominently. They only knew he was powerful, and manifesting battle armor had become a routine act for him. It was only puzzling why he had to wait until now to unleash this trump card—of course, they had no intention of blaming him.

Ling Mo had already become a legendary figure in their hearts, and with the aura of this legend and glory surrounding him, whatever he did would only seem like part of his grand strategy.

Now that he had made his move, it likely meant they were headed for a showdown with the demons.

This filled them with fighting spirit.

Other forces that had received Ling Mo’s communication were still a bit dazed, unsure of Ling Mo’s intentions, yet they recognized they were in a stalemate. If no one broke this deadlock, they’d also meet their downfall in the end.

Since someone had stepped up to change the game, naturally, they were more than willing to assist; it was just a matter of providing cover! That was their specialty—as long as it didn’t lead them to their doom, they were on board.

While other forces began to converge towards the Chicks to pressure the demons, Ling Mo and Xia Xinyan finally moved their elite troops into action, charging into the ranks of demons with a ferocity that could only be described as wild. They carved a path through the battlefield at an astonishing speed, almost recklessly, and before the demons could react, they quickly surrounded the powerful three-meter-tall demon leading the charge.

Seeing this, all other forces followed suit, quickly exploiting the breach Ling Mo created to further split the battlefield, forcibly pushing back against the numerous demons and completely separating the surrounded group of enemies.

After witnessing this, the demons’ offensive became increasingly frenzied, seemingly trying to break through the rift and rejoin their comrades, which only solidified everyone’s assumption that the towering three-meter demon was indeed the leader.

“Ling Mo, it’s all on you.” Summer Jincang was one of the front-line figures, and after the battlefield was split, he glanced back and quickly said via communication while joining the fray, “We can’t hold out much longer against this assault; you need to take care of that guy fast.”

Ling Mo didn’t hesitate: “Leave it to me.”

With that, he dropped several massive bombs right in the midst of the surrounded demons, and just as the explosions were about to reach the perimeter, he vanished. This scene made Xia Xinyan wide-eyed in surprise; Ling Mo had not only upgraded his manifestation capabilities, but his control over them had reached… an almost ridiculous level.

To be able to control a bomb to explode just a few dozen meters away without affecting himself was something he had never done before—his previous distances were in kilometers!

However, while he could accurately control the explosion’s radius, it was still pretty intense for those surrounding the demons. A few times, they watched bombs explode right in front of them, with the heat almost scorching their faces, only for Ling Mo to pull his vanishing act—like regular folks watching a rally car drift from the passenger seat; every near miss sent their hearts racing.

Fortunately, the torment for both humans and demons didn’t last long; after a few bombs went off, barely a few demons remained standing in the surrounded group—the towering leader was an exception, being entirely charred but showing no prominent injuries.

Ling Mo didn’t plan to blow it up immediately since they still needed it to command the frenzied demon army outside. Capturing it here would make for an easier expedition, and even if capture failed, they had alternatives.

So, Ling Mo manifested a circle of massive bombs around the demon and approached it with Xia Xinyan: “Let’s talk? You can speak, right?”

“…Did you even give me a chance to speak?!” The demon, feeling utterly frustrated, shouted, “Why are you torturing me like this?! Do you think it’s fun?!”

While it hadn’t been directly injured… mainly because Ling Mo’s bombs hadn’t really targeted it, thus any collateral damage it took was minimal—relative to demons, of course. It had survived, but honestly, the torture felt worse than just putting it out of its misery.

“It’s just to knock down your arrogance so we can chat in a more civil manner.” Ling Mo observed it for a moment with the detonator in hand, “You must be the leader of those demons out there, right?”

“? If I were the leader, would I be at the front?” The demon quickly shot back, “Are you all stupid?! Aren’t leaders kept in the safest places protected by many?! What happens if the leader gets captured?!”

Ling Mo: “…”

Xia Xinyan: “…”

Getting called out on their intelligence by a demon was quite something.

But after a bit of probing, Ling Mo learned that it wasn’t the leader—the true leader was in the core area they had speculated about, sending support to the other demons, and this one was just its strongest general.

Similar to the national general title that Guan Ling had conferred upon them before.

Ling Mo replied directly, “So here’s an opportunity for you: betray that leader, and the next leadership position will be yours.”

“I’m not going; I can’t defeat it.” The demon was very straightforward.

“We can help you take it down.” Xia Xinyan narrowed her eyes, “If you’re unwilling, we have other candidates more suitable for the role of leader.”

As her words fell, Guan Ling swayed over, sizing up the demon seriously: “I could take it on one-on-one.”

Demon: “…”

“See? Doesn’t this seem like a better choice?” Ling Mo smiled.

His plan was simple: the easiest and quickest way to deal with demons was to decapitate the leadership. If they provided the demons with a stronger leader under human control, then all demons here would fall under humanity’s sway.

The racial hierarchy formed by sheer strength could indeed be quite convenient at times.
